The Fiddler’s rest” is one of the very few remaining pre-famine cottage. It has been very sensitively renovated. The cottage was built to follow the hill and the stones rather than with any consideration to right angles and straight lines. The roof has recently been re-thatched.

Entering the house through the half door into the kitchen/living room, the main bedroom with double bed, is at the top of the house and the second bedroom with two single beds, has been renovated in what used to be the byre. A loft, accessible by a steep staircase, over half of the house offers sitting room space or alternative accommodation. The house also includes a small bathroom with shower.

The kitchen has an electric cooker and a fridge, coffee machine and kettle. As well as the turf fire which stays on all night (if the ambers have been covered with ashes before going to bed) the house has electric radiators.
